Update: The Amber Alert that was activated on Thursday after the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl has been canceled. Malaya Johnson has been located and is safe, state police said. Johnson, from Hudson Falls near Glens Falls, was found unharmed in New York City. She had contacted her family Friday morning to let them know she was safe but did not plan on returning home, according to a report on WCBS-TV. Seen Him? Suspect Wanted For Sexual Abuse Of Child In Rockland
Police are asking the public for help in locating a man wanted for sexual abuse in Rockland County. Ramapo police are searching for Jose Carpio-Pleites, 70, who is wanted for attempted sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with an incident that took place in August 2017, police said. Carpio-Pleites is described as being 5-foot-6, 180 lbs with brown eyes and grey hair. Investigators from the Ramapo Police Department have issued an alert regarding Smadar Cohen - also known as Smadar Ategi-Cohen - who is wanted on charges that include rape, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a child. A 32-year-old man spent the night behind bars after allegedly abusing a child during a domestic incident in Dutchess County. A former teacher’s aide from the Hudson Valley is heading to prison after being found guilty of having sexual intercourse and oral sex with a minor under the age of 17. A 38-year-old man is behind bars after state police say he fondled himself in front of children at a department store in Northern Westchester. Hudson Valley Man Arrested Twice In One Day
Monroe Police arrested a man twice in one day after he assaulted his wife during a domestic dispute and then violated a protective order. Odi Gil-Aguilar, 30, of Monroe, was arrested on Thursday, May 10, after officers responded to a home for a report of domestic violence taking place, police said. When officers arrived they found Gil Aguilar assaulting his wife and arrested him. A State Police investigation led to the arrest of a man who allegedly sexually abused a child and made an attempt at sexually abusing another. A 37-year-old man who threw and hit a small child is behind bars after state police were notified by a local school of the abuse. Michael P. Thorpe was arrested on Monday after New York State Police received a call from teachers and officials at the child's school who were concerned about the abuse, said Trooper AJ Hicks. A Brooklyn man who works for a Manhattan elementary school was charged with trying to lure a teenager to a Hudson Valley hotel for sex, state police’s Troop F Child Abuse Unit in Sullivan County said on Friday, March 16.
