Riders Suffer Broken Bones As Segway Scooters Fold Mid-Ride, Sparking Massive Recall Two popular Segway electric scooters are being recalled after dozens of riders were injured when the handlebars or stem collapsed mid-ride, sending some crashing to the ground. More than 220,000 Segway Ninebot Max G30P and Max G30LP KickScooters are affected by the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release on Thursday, Mar. 20. Segway has received 68 reports of folding mechanism failures, according to the CPSC. The incidents include 20 injuries such as abrasions, bruises, lacerations, and broken bones. Burning Electric Scooter Causes Damage To Apartment Complex In Hudson Valley Firefighters rushed to a Hudson Valley apartment complex after an electric scooter caught fire inside a second-floor unit, officials said. The fire broke out on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Slatewood Apartments in the Town of Wallkill, according to the Mechanicstown Fire Company.  Crews arrived to find an electric scooter burning inside the apartment. Fatal Crash: 32-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Hudson Valley A man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash on a busy roadway in the region. It happened in Dutchess County at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, on Route 44 near Traver Road in Pleasant Valley. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, an initial investigation determined a 2023 Mercedes-Benz van was traveling eastbound when an electric scooter driven by Brandon Vogel, age 32, of Pleasant Valley, entered the roadway from the south shoulder and was struck.
