The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 8 at around 4:30 p.m., when a concerned resident told members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department that they had seen a drum of an "unknown substance" floating in the Hudson River by the northern shore of Croton Point, the department said. Fire Causes Serious Damage To Seven-Bedroom Home In Westchester A seven-bedroom home sustained serious damage during a fire that started in the attic. The fire, at 320 Elm Road in Briarcliff Manor, was reported around 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, said the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department. The fire ripped through the roof and attic areas of the home, requiring a large contingent of firefighters to battle the blaze. Man Clinging To Branch After Trying To Save Dog Rescued From Croton River A simple walk with his dog turned into a nightmare for a man who ended up clinging to a tree branch to keep from drowning in the rushing water of the Croton River. The man became stranded while chasing his dog who ran into the water in the Croton Gorge Park section of the river around 7 p.m. Wednesday, said the Croton Fire Department on Facebook.
