$300M Indoor Water Park Resort Opening Earlier Than Expected Near CT Casino
The wait just got a little shorter for families to enjoy a new indoor water park near Foxwoods Resort Casino. Great Wolf Lodge Mashantucket will now open on Friday, May 9, the resort's website said. The 92,000-square-foot park next to Foxwoods was previously anticipating to welcome guests on Friday, May 23. The $300 million resort is part of a partnership with the Pequot tribe. 3 Hudson Valley Companies Announce Around 300 Layoffs
Several hundred Hudson Valley workers will lose their jobs as three companies, either close, merge or cutback on production. The companies, all located in Orange County, Frito-Lay and Gen-Pak, both in Middletown, and Amscan in Newburgh, filed WARN Notices with the state that inform them of upcoming layoffs. Frito-Lay said it would lay off 88 workers beginning on Friday, Aug. 30 due to construction projects at the plant. The workers will not be rehired. Motorists planning on traveling on the Hutchinson River Parkway can expect delays of up to 20 minutes for several weeks as contracting crews begin an extensive construction project in the area. The closures now underway are expected to last through Friday, May 10, leading to lengthy delays.
