Day Asks Trump For Order Requiring Visitors From Other Countries Present Proof Of Immunization
As the measles outbreak continues to rage across Rockland County, Ed Day, the county executive, has written to President Donal Trump requesting that all foreign visitors be required to be fully immunized before entering the country. Since October of last year when seven infected travelers from Israel visited Rockland County there have been 233 cases of measles reported. Day said the request only makes sense in his effort to stop the spread of the disease. County Taxpayers Being Unfairly Targeted, Schumer Says In Westchester Visit
Standing with Westchester County homeowners, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles "Chuck" Schumer called on the IRS on Monday, June 25 to treat fairly a new state law aimed at reducing taxes. In a letter to the IRS' acting commissioner, Schumer asked the federal agency to support the state law, which enables cash-strapped New Yorkers to ease the tax burden caused by a federal tax bill that capped State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions at $10,000. U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles "Chuck" Schumer said he told Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Brock Long to keep funding the Newburgh Fire Department and avoid life-threatening layoffs. IRS Extends Tax Deadline To File For Hudson Valley Small Businesses
Due to this winter's series of severe winter storms, the Internal Revenue Service has extended the deadline for small businesses to seek extensions.Taxpayers who were unable to file their business tax returns can request an automatic extension by filing Form 7004, a one-page form on or before March 20. Prior to this IRS decision, businesses that were without power this month would have been penalized for filing for this extension after March 15.
