Paroled Killer Of 16-Year-Old Ordered To Stay Away From Rockland As Pataki Appeals To Cuomo
One of the two men convicted of killing Pearl River 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky in 1980 who was granted parole has been ordered to stay clear of Rockland County and has been banished to upstate New York. The New York Attorney General’s Office told a judge that Richard LaBarbera has been reassigned to a parole officer in Buffalo when he is released from prison this week. LaBarbera was also ordered to steer clear of Bohovesky’s mother, Lois. Initially, LaBarbera was to be assigned to a parole officer in Peekskill. An area state senator is calling on New York's Parole Board to re-examine and deny parole for the convicted murderers of 16-year-old Paula Bohevesky in 1980. In October 1980, Richard LaBarbera and Robert McCain attacked Bohovesky, an honor student who was picked up off the street a few blocks from her Pearl River home. She was “brutally” beaten, stabbed and left alone to die in a pool of her own blood with her clothes strewn about. One of the two drifters who attacked and brutally killed a 16-year-old honor student from Rockland County will soon be a free man. In October 1980, Richard LaBarbera and Robert McCain attacked 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky, an honor student who was picked up off the street a few blocks from her Pearl River home.
