12 Displaced In Stamford Blaze Requiring 30 Firefighters
Twelve residents of a Stamford home were displaced by a fire that required some 30 firefighters to bring under control, according to the Stamford Fire Department. The fire started in the kitchen around 4:23 pm Thursday at 63 Soundview Ave., said Deputy Fire Chief Patrick J. Tripodi. The first engine company arrived within three minutes of the alarm and found a kitchen fire at the rear of the two-and-half-story wood frame home, Tripodi said. Two Men Shot, One Dead In Bridgeport
Bridgeport marked its fifth homicide of the year following the shooting of two men early Thursday, leaving one dead. Bridgeport police learned of the shootings around 12:30 a.m. after a man was brought to Bridgeport Hospital by private vehicle, and another man was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center, both with gunshot wounds, said Av Harris, spokesman for the department. Harris said the man at Bridgeport Hospital was in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his torso. Did you see them? Five U.S. Navy Blue Angel jets zipped through the sky Thursday morning around 9 a.m. as part of a planned flyover before heading to LaGuardia Airport. The Navy F/A-18 jets flew north over Westchester and Rockland counties, turning south. Woman Dies From Injuries After Being Hit By Pickup Truck In Hudson Valley
An 81-year-old woman hit by a pickup truck driven by a Fairfield County man has died from her injuries, according to the Orangetown Police Department. Sueann Esposito of Orangetown died from injuries sustained when she was hit by a 24-year-old Stamford resident Edvin Lopez, around noon Tuesday at the intersection of North Broadway and Main Street in Nyack, said Sgt. Kerri Schiller. Esposito died at Westchester Medical Center after being hit by the 2004 Ford F-250, Schiller added. Lopez was not injured in the crash. A new report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that found New York women were paid 86 percent of what men made in 2016, comes as no surprise to women. The report, released Monday, found that in 2016, New York women who were full-time workers, had weekly earnings of $840 or 86.2 percent of the $975 weekly earnings of their male counterparts. DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Town of Poughkeepsie police are on the lookout for a man who attempted a burglary at a home on Thomas Avenue on Wednesday.
