Guy DeVincenzo, who serves as the president of the board, was asked by the Journal News to submit a written statement as part of the paper's school board race coverage.

Parts of his response, published in a May 5 article, exactly match a recent statement made by the Dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, James Ryan.

According to lohud.com, DeVincenzo said he was "perplexed," by the claim and that he was only using "jargon used by educators..."

But one of his challengers, Ira Steinberg, told lohud.com that the statement was "plagiarism and academic dishonesty," and that he was not acting as an educational leader.
