Prior to the U.N. trip, students in an Italian IV class addressed such world issues as hunger, the refugee crisis and child labor in class.
The unit compared and contrasted the Italian and American governments, and looked at the interaction of world governments, as they work to resolve global issues.
The U.N. tour addressed these world issues, as well as others, such as land mines, highlighting the body's efforts and programs to reduce and eventually eradicate these problems.
After the trip the students wrote essays to summarize what they learned in Italian.
