Woman Caught Shoplifting At ShopRite In Pearl River Had Heroin, Police Say

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - A local woman is facing drug charges after being caught with heroin after allegedly shoplifting from the Pearl River ShopRite, police said. police said on Thursday.

Shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, police were dispatched to ShopRite on Middletown Road, where there were reports of a woman who had allegedly left the store without paying for more than $80 in groceries.

Upon arrival at the store, police tracked down 30-year-old Pearl River resident Kristen Decker, and a subsequent investigation revealed that she was in possession of five packets of heroin on her person.

Police arrested Decker at the scene and she was charged with misdemeanor counts of petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. Decker is due back in Orangetown Justice Court next week to answer the charges.
