An Orangetown Police officer on patrol at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 on East Lewis Avenue stopped Nikola Marinkovich in his 2010 Honda when he committed a vehicle and traffic law violation in Pearl River.
During the subsequent stop, it was determined that Marinkovich was in possession of a hypodermic syringe and a small amount of alleged heroin. Marinkovich was arrested at the scene and charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.
Following arraignment, Marinkovich was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on April 25 to answer the charges.
