The truck hit the center median on Route 59 at Doscher Avenue with its fuel tank, causing the large leak, said West Nyack Fire Chief Brian Leitner.

Because the spill was so large,  Rockland County Emergency Management Hazmat Team is working the spill along with a private contractor called out by the Clarkstown Police Department, Leitner said.

The roadway has been narrowed to one lane to allow for cleanup, motorists are advised to avoid the area as the clean-up continues, police said.
