Shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, patrol officers from the Orangetown Police Department stopped 44-year-old Hollywood, Florida resident Cesar Serrano on Polhemus Street after spotting him committing several traffic violations.
During the subsequent stop, officers reported that Serrano had alcohol on his breath, with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He proceeded to consent to several Standardized Field Sobriety tests, which he failed. Police said his driver's license was also suspended.
Serrano was arrested and transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where he failed a breathalyzer test that determined that he was operating his vehicle under the influence. Serrano was then charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was released on bail and is due back in Nyack Justice Court on Tuesday to answer the charges.
