An officer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident around 11:49 p.m. on Clausland Mountain Road, and observed that a car had driven off the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to police.
The driver was identified as Ramiro Quijada-Perez, and police reported his speech was slurred and his breath smelled of alcohol.
Quijada-Perez failed numerous field sobriety tests and he was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, police said.
The suspect's breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol content to be more than three times the legal limit, police said.
Quijada-Perez was charged with aggravated DWI and was released pending a Nov. 1 court appearance in Orangetown.
