The Tappen Fire Department have come to learn that their firehouse on Washington Street is a "hot spot" of sorts for people playing the game and have asked that Pokémon Go! players catch 'em all somewhere else.

"While we are thrilled children are out playing and enjoying themselves, we must remind everyone of the constant firematic activity that takes place on our property," read a statement on the department's Facebook page Wednesday.

Fire Chief Wayne Werner said he was made aware of the concern today and the department was just passing the word along.

The app, created by Niantic Inc., imposes digital versions of the fictional characters on user's smart phone cameras. It has enthralled users to the point where Pokémon Go! has drawn more daily active users than Twitter since it's release on July 6.

A warning from the state Department of Motor Vehicle and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee asked New Yorkers to not play the game while driving.
