According to police, the suspects most likely used a ladder to gain entry to the second floor of the home through a window and stole items from only the second floor. They exited the same way.
The first floor of the home was never entered and nothing was missing from that area, police said.
The Rockland County Sheriff's Office BCI Unit responded to the burglary and processed the home. Orangetown police are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual in the area to contact their office at 845-359-2121.
The department is also reminding residents that with good weather returning they need to be sure and secure their homes when they are away or outside. They suggest putting lights on timers and to always lock doors and all windows.
When going on vacation, residents are also reminded to stop their mail and newspaper deliveries and ask neighbors to keep an eye on their homes.
