Luis Amadiz-Rodriguez, 22, walked into the parking area of the Orangetown Police Department around 10 p.m. on Tuesday on Orangeburg Road and walked a few feet in front of the officer, raised a glass beer bottle above his head, and threw it at the officer, police said.
The bottle barely missed the officer's head. Amadiz-Rodriguez then took off running with the officer in pursuit. The officer, who was not injured, was able to catch Amadiz-Rodriguez and hold him until backup arrived, police said.
He was charged with felony attempted assault, menacing and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Rockland County Jail.
