Officers from the Orangetown Police Department were dispatched to the Nyack home following reports of the stolen bike, and the homeowner was able to give a description of the suspect and the bicycle, pointing the officers in the direction the thief took off.
After canvassing the area for a short time, the officers spotted someone who fit the description, who was later identified as 19-year-old Nyack Carlos Monzon-Galdamez. Police arrested Monzon-Galdamez after the victim identified him and the stolen bicycle.
Monzon-Galdamez was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny. He was released on bail and is due back in Nyack Justice Court next month to answer the charges.
