Mikola Duda, 21, was slurring his words and stumbling. when Orangetown police arrived on the scene of the accident on Saturday, Dec. 10, on Route 304 in Pearl River, police said.
Officers also said they could smell alcohol coming from his breath and that he failed a sobriety test at the scene of the accident, police said.
Once at police headquarters, Duda was given a breathalyzer test which showed he had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol, police said.
He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and released.
