The Orangetown Police Department is investigating a real-life Grinch who has been on the run stealing holiday cards intended for employees in Pearl River.

A suspect stole holiday cards left by residents, which were intended for the men and women who “work hard to collect the recycling in the Town of Orangetown,” police said on Thursday. Empty envelopes were found on Hawk Street, Sandra Lane, Edsall Terrace, Bocket Road, Washington Place and Sparrow Lane.

Police said that anyone who intends to leave holiday cards out for other town employees “may want to consider another way to spread holiday cheer.”

Anyone with information regarding the stolen cards have been asked to contact the Orangetown Police Department by calling (845) 359-3700.
