Christopher Torralbas, 24, is accused of entering an unlocked vehicle Thursday evening at 6:41 p.m., on Walter Street in Pearl River and removing two credit cards from a wallet inside it, police said.
When the vehicle's owner approached it, he saw the suspect near the vehicle and observed him throw the wallet on the ground, according to police.
That is when the suspect fled on foot, but police were able to locate him based on his description, they said.
He was found in possession of both credit cards with the victim’s name on them, according to police.
Torrallbas was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, police said.
Torralbas was arraigned then taken to Rockland County Jail, according to police.
He is due back in Orangetown court on Nov. 1.
Torralbas was arrested in July on an attempted burglary charge, Daily Voice reported.
In that incident, Torralbas and Valerie A. Helvestine, 25, of Middletown, were arrested after police responded to a report of two individuals attempting to break into a property on Middletown Road in Pearl River, according to police.
