Orangetown Police Charge Pearl River Woman In Stabbing

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- A woman allegedly stabbed a man in a domestic attack Tuesday morning in the Pearl River area, according to the Orangetown Police Department.

Officers responded at 6:42 a.m. to the scene and ascertained that the accused, Deborah Baranello, 59, of Pearl River had been in a dispute with a male when she pulled a large kitchen knife on him and stabbed at him, causing a laceration to his hand and a puncture wound to his stomach, police said.

The victim received medical treatment for his wounds at Nyack Hospital, and Baranello was arrested at the scene, according to police.

Baranello was transported to police headquarters and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. She was arraigned and is due in Orangetown Town Court on Tuesday, July 12.
