Steven Butterfield, 35, was charged on Saturday with criminal tampering and possession of an open container of alcohol in addition to a warrant charge that he violated a local law in Nyack, according to Orangetown police.

The incident began when Butterfield was seen on Sickles Avenue in Nyack with an open container of alcohol, police said. Officers recognized Butterfield because he was wanted on the warrant out of Nyack and he was taken into custody, police said.
