Officers were on patrol at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, when they stopped 44-year-old Nyack resident Eugene Reese after he made numerous traffic violations on the roadway.
During the subsequent stop, officers said that Reese had an odor of alcohol on his breath and he had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Reese proceeded to fail several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests at the scene and was arrested under suspicion of drunk driving.
Reese was transported back to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where he refused a breathalyzer test. He was arraigned and charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, because his license was suspended. Reese was released on bail and is due back in Nyack Justice Court on Oct. 31 to answer the charges.
