New Jersey Man Faces Assault Charges After Pearl River Altercation

PEARL RIVER, N. Y. -- A 43-year-old Teaneck, N.J., man is facing assault charges after Orangetown police said he punched a woman in the face during a recent argument.

Steven N. Markowitz is charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. He was arrested Saturday, police said, and due back in Orangetown court at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 11.

The woman was treated for injuries to her face, police said. An argument between the two escalated and led to the altercation, police said.
