Shortly after 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, police arrested Florida resident Ronald Etienne, after he was observed by officers pulling out of a parking spot on Main Street and striking a moving car traveling west on Main Street.
Police said that as they approached Etienne after the accident, they observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, and officers reported he had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech. Etienne subsequently failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests at the scene and was arrested.
Etienne would refuse a breathalyzer test from police and was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. He was released on bail and is due back in Nyack Justice Court on Tuesday, May 16.
