Man Tried To Steal Beer At Pearl River ShopRite, Police Say

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - Police in Orangetown busted a man from New Jersey attempting to steal beer from a Pearl River grocery store.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, members of the Orangetown Police Department were dispatched to ShopRite in Pearl River, where 25-year-old Montvale, N.J. resident Matthew Guzman allegedly placed beer and other beverages into a bag and left the store without paying for any of the items.

Police tracked down Guzman, who was arrested outside Shop Rite and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. Guzman was arraigned and released on bail that night. He is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Oct. 25 to answer the charge.
