A 31-year-old man from Bergen was arrested in Rockland County after allegedly stalking and attempting to lure a girl into his car.
Shortly before 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, police from Orangetown arrested Dumont resident Joseph Guccione on a charge of attempted luring of a child after detectives were informed by a girl under the age of 17 that he had accosted her.
At 4 p.m. on May 31, the girl told police that she was walking alone on Parkway Drive North in Blauvelt when Guccione began following her in a silver Nissan Altima. Police said that they were told that Guccione drove past the girl several times before pulling up to her and attempting to engage in a conversation.
According to police, Guccione made contact with the girl and repeatedly asked her to get in his car while requesting her social media contact information. She then fled to a safe area and was able to provide police with a description of Guccione.
Guccione was arrested by detectives with the Orangetown Police Department and charged with misdemeanor counts of attempted luring of a child, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree stalking. He was also cited for harassment, a violation. Guccione was remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail. He is due back in court later this year.
