Francisco G. Pinto is charged with first-degree and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both felonies, police said. He was arraigned in Orangetown Town Court and is being held on $5,000 bond in the Rockland County Jail pending a future court date, police said.
The U.S. Postal Service sent out an alert that a man had cashed forged money orders at post offices in Monroe, Clarkstown and Pearl River, police said. While checking the Orangeburg post office on Tuesday, an Orangetown police officer saw the man, police said.
The officer found a forged U.S. Postal Money Order for $490 and a fake Florida identification card, police said.
