Brian Gonzalez, 27, was stopped by Orangetown Police for a traffic violation at 2:30 a.m. on Main Street in Nyack. When officers approached the vehicle, they could smell alcohol and noticed that Gonzalez was slurring his speech and had bloodshot eyes, police said.

After failing a series of sobriety tests at the scene, Gonzalez began to fight officers as they tried to arrest him for DWI, police said.

Officers were finally able to subdue Gonzalez and arrest him. He was taken to the Orangetown Police Headquarters where he refused to undergo a breathalyzer test, police added.

Gonzalez was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. He was released on bail and is due to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2017.
