Michael DeMane was driving on Clausland Mountain Road in Blauvelt when he was stopped by an officer around 11:02 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, police said.
According to police, that officer detected the strong odor of pot coming from DeMane’s vehicle and also noticed marijuana on his shirt and on the floor of the car.
There was also a burned joint on the car seat, police said.
DeMane failed field sobriety tests and was taken to police headquarters where he refused to take a chemical test, police said.
He was charged with driving while ability impaired, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.
Police said DeMane was also wanted by village of Nyack police for allegedly violating a local law.
DeMane was released on both the Orangetown and Nyack charges and is to appear in court in both of those communities in January.
