2 Teens Face Felony Drug Charges After Palisades Car Crash

PALISADES, N.Y. – A pair of New York City teens are facing felony drug charges after police investigating a car crash found them in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.

The teens, both from the Elmhurst section of Queens, were involved in a single-car crash about 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to Orangetown police.

Sarbjot S. Parmar, 18, was driving the car and, after a brief investigation was arrested, according to police. He was arraigned in Orangetown Town Court, where he was charged with felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

According authorities, Parmar’s passenger, Mohammed T. Islam, 18, also was arrested and arraigned. He faces counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, according to police.

Neither 18-year-old was said to have suffered any significant injuries in the crash.

Parmar was taken to the Rockland County jail after his arraignment and held on $7,500 cash bail. Islam’s bail was set at $1,000.

According to police, both men are to appear in Orangetown Town Court at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
