Mario Ennio Ablondi, 92, Of Pearl River

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Mario Ennio Ablondi, a resident of Pearl River, died Tuesday, June 7. He was 92.

Born March 5, 1924, in Park Ridge, N.J., he was the son of Alfredo Ablondi and Ersilia Pometti Ablondi. He was raised and lived his entire life in Pearl River, where he was the longtime owner and proprietor of Ablondi’s Bar and Grill.

He served his country during the World War II, enlisting as a U.S. Marine and serving in the Marshall Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart Feb. 12, 1944, for wounds sustained at Roi Island, Kwajalein Atoll.

He is survived by his wife Marie Ablondi (Nicolosi); his daughter Cecile Goldsack; son-in-law James Goldsack; daughter-in-law Karen Ablondi (Maiorino); his grandchildren and their spouses, Jillian Nahoum (Ablondi), Robert Nahoum, Jenna Verdino (Ablondi) Robert Verdino, James Goldsack, Samantha Goldsack (Patterson), Priscilla Rossi (Goldsack) and Steven Rossi; his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Juliette Nahoum, and Colin, Charlotte, and Rita Goldsack; sister Flora Workman (Ablondi); and niece Nancy Workman.

He was predeceased by his son Bruce Ablondi.

Visiting will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret’s R.C. Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet.
