Lucille Leventhal Popik, 87, Formerly Of Nyack

NYACK, N.Y. –Lucille Leventhal Popik, former longtime resident of Nyack and Spring Valley, died Wednesday, May 18. She was 87.

She was the daughter of Sara and Ben Leventhal. She grew up in Nyack and graduated as salutatorian and editor-in-chief of the Nyack High School newspaper. She attended Radcliffe College (part of Harvard University) graduating in 1951 with a major in government.

After a brief working career in New York City, she met and married the love of her life, Selig Popik of Spring Valley, to whom she was married for 62 years.

She is survived by her husband Selig; her children Andrea Taber (Ken), Beth Popik (Robert Schwartz), Andrew Popik (Judy Friend), and Lisa Popik Coll (Arieh); and her grandchildren Sarah and Rebecca Taber, Steven, Chad and Brandon Popik, Jacob, Gabriel and Rachel Coll.

She was predeceased by her brother Morton Leventhal.

Funeral services were conducted at the Reform Temple of Rockland (formerly Temple Beth El).

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation.
