Van Roy was 7-years-old when she, her mother and her brother came to the United States from Cluj, Romania, to be reunited with her father in New York City.
She worked as a milliner before marrying Al Hyman in 1940. They lived in Yonkers and had two children: Roberta and Michael.
Hyman died in 1966 and she married Simon Van Roy in 1971. The couple lived in White Plains.
Her second husband died in 1993 and Van Roy went to work for the brokerage firm, H. Hentz and Co.
She loved to cook and was famous for her stuffed cabbages.
Vanroy is survived by her daughter, Roberta (Floyd) Woller of Tappan; son, Michael (Marsha) Hyman of White Plains; granddaughters Allyson (Eric) Israel and Stephanie (David) Chapman, both of Wesley Hills; grandson Adam (Jennifer) Hyman of Larchmont; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Annie Jacobs.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 1.
Burial was at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ridgewood.
Shiva was being observed at the Woller residence through Friday, Jan. 6.
Arrangements were handled by Hellman Memorial Chapels of Spring Valley.
