PEARL RIVER, N.Y. — Josephine Sheridan (nee Biggins), 78, formerly of Pearl River, died peacefully July 4, 2016 in her home in Barnegat, N.J.
Born Aug. 10, 1937, to the late Thomas and Mary Ellen Biggins, she attended St. Barnabas High School in the Bronx.
She was a homemaker for 57 years, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and The Pearl River Ambulance Corps.
She was a devout Catholic whose faith and fortitude inspired all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Thomas, John and William Biggins and Sr. Maria Goretti O.P. (Catherine Biggins).
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Peter F. Sheridan of Long Beach Island, N.J.; children, Peter T. Sheridan of Pearl River, Thomas F. Sheridan (Vincent Walsh) of Washington, D.C., Catherine Lawlor (John) of Little Rock, Ark., Ann Sheridan (Erich Steinbrunn) of Manahawkin, N.J. and Maureen Sheridan of Nyack; and sister, Mary Ellen Desmond of Pearl River. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Jack, Cara and Colleen Lawlor of Little Rock, Ark. and Tyler Steinbrunn of Manahawkin, N.J.; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Assumma-Shankey Funeral Home, 34 N. Summit St., Pearl River. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at The Chapel of Most Holy Rosary at The Convent of St. Dominic, 496 Western Highway, Blauvelt. Burial will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery in Barnegat.
