NYACK, N.Y. -- John G. Onderdonk, 83, of Nyack, died Oct. 5.
He was born in 1933. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-56. He was a proud volunteer member of the New City Fire Engine Company for 50 years. He also volunteered for many years at Helen Hayes Hospital.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Ann Miller.
He is survived by his son, John; daughters, Mary Kay and her husband Charlie Humenn, Linda and her husband Duffy Hopper and Joanne and her husband Robert Margro; and grandchildren, Emily, Steven, Katherine, Jimmy, Danielle, Dennis, Melissa, Yanis and Sarah.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home Inc., 728 W. Nyack Road, West Nyack. Firematic services will take place at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine's Church, 140 Maple Ave., New City. Burial will be in Frederick Loescher Veteran Cemetery in New Hempstead.
