Water Main Break Results In School Closure In South Orangetown

ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A water main break water main break Tuesday on Van Wyck Road in Blauvelt has closed South Orangetown Middle School and left about 80 homes in the immediate area without water.

The school, which is also without water, will remain closed all day Tuesday, according to Suez Water.

Other customers in the area may temporarily have low-water pressure or discolored water, Suez officials said.

The Rockland County Health Department issued a boil water order for several addresse on :Van Wyck Road and Blauvelt Road. Those addresses can be accessed by clicking here.

Crews have been on the scene since 6 a.m. and are working to repair the main as quickly and safely as possible, they added.

Customers will be updated as the work progresses.
