The company has installed the first four stay cables on the main span towers, and is preparing to install more next week.
The stay cables are comprised of numerous metal strands, tightly packed in a protective sheath.
After the initial installation process, TZC will install additional strands inside the sheath to provide further strength.
New structural steel sections and stay cables on alternating sides of the towers will be installed as work continues.
TZC will also place precast concrete deck panels on the erected steel sections to provide a base driving surface.
The new bridge is expected to be complete by 2018, at an overall cost of nearly $4 billion.
