State Sen. Carlucci Announces Free Naloxone Training In Pearl River

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Because the heroin epidemic is destroying lives across the Lower Hudson Valley, State Sen. David Carlucci and the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services will host two free Naloxone training sessions in Pearl River and Ossining.

Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is an antidote that is given to individuals experiencing a heroin overdose which will temporarily revive them long enough to seek medical attention. Naloxone is an opioid antagonist, and this lifesaving antidote has revived thousands of people across New York in the last few years. 

At both training sessions, attendees will leave with their own Naloxone kit that is equipped with two doses of the drug. 

The first training session will be held on Wednesday, April 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ossining Elks Lodge, 118 Croton Ave., Ossining. 

The second training session will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pearl River Library, 80 Franklin Ave., Pearl River.
