Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is an antidote that is given to individuals experiencing a heroin overdose which will temporarily revive them long enough to seek medical attention. Naloxone is an opioid antagonist, and this lifesaving antidote has revived thousands of people across New York in the last few years.
At both training sessions, attendees will leave with their own Naloxone kit that is equipped with two doses of the drug.
The first training session will be held on Wednesday, April 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ossining Elks Lodge, 118 Croton Ave., Ossining.
The second training session will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pearl River Library, 80 Franklin Ave., Pearl River.
