Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert, the county’s commissioner of health, said that parents of the Liberty Elementary School (Valley Cottage) and Nyack Middle Schools students have been notified and the children are being tested, lohud reported.
Students were exposed to a person with TB outside the school setting, the lohud report said.
According to lohud, health officials said that person is currently in the hospital and is recovering.
Ruppert has also sent out a message reassuring the public that since TB germs only remain in the environment for a few hours, there should not be any further risk of exposure.
