Nyack Hospital Offers Free Yoga Classes For Cancer Patients, Survivors

NYACK, N.Y. -- The Breast Center at Nyack Hospital will host a free weekly yoga program offered by Kula for Karma and open to all patients and survivors of cancer.

Beginning April 6, the classes will be held every Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the hospital, 160 Midland Ave., in the Krutz Auditorium.

The free program will be taught by certified yoga instructors with advanced cancer training. Each class will focus on teaching restorative and adaptive techniques targeted at promoting stress reduction and relaxation. Participants will explore yoga as a pathway toward healing on all levels. Mats, props and chairs will be provided.

The program is being made available with support from the Hernandez Family Foundation. 

Kula for Karma offers therapeutic yoga programs through a network of specially trained volunteer instructors at no cost to people with physical, mental and emotional challenges. Instructors work with the medical community to complement traditional approaches to healing those with illness, disease and chronic pain, and those recovering from abuse, trauma and addiction.
