Traster's memoir "Rescuing Julia Twice" won the Independent Publisher Book Awards 2015 Silver Medal for Parenting. A veteran journalist, Traster has written for The New York Times, The New York Post, The Journal News, The Bergen Record, The Asbury Park Press, the Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, and many online news sites. She wrote the Burb Appeal Column for six years for The New York Post, and she was a long-time news and column writer for Crains New York Business. Her essays have been anthologized in many collections.
She's also contributed scores of stories to magazines including the Atlantic, Redbook, Time Out New York, Hudson Valley Magazine, Ski Magazine, Family Circle, Audubon, Parade and more.
Traster has produced two short documentaries, The Kids Are Not Alright and This House Matters. She is an avid preservationist, and is working on a longer documentary about saving historic houses.
When she is not pecking away at the keyboard, Traster can be found hiking, skiing, swimming, or inadvertently out looking for her next project.
