Calling the smell "unbearable," at least one rail rider accused the train's operators of dumping sewage on the tracks as it rumbles through Pearl River each morning, according to lohud.com.
A spokesman with the railroad denied the accusation, saying that any water dumped along the track is "treated water" that poses no threat to the public, according to lohud.com
The railroad has been permitted to dump treated water along the tracks since reaching an agreement with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Conservation, according to lohud.com.
