Once word spread that Murray was going to guest bartend for his son, Homer, fans started to line up around the block to get into the eatery, The New York Times reported.
21 Greenpoint's co-owner is Syd Silva, according to The New York Times report.
The senior Murray made up for showing more than an hour late by pouring on the charm -- singing and brandishing his dry sense of humor -- as he poured out the booze, The New York Times’ story said.
A special cocktail -- made from Slovenia vodka (Murray’s reported drink of choice), Amaro liqueur and a pinch of dried rosebuds -- created in honor of the occasion was dubbed “The Depth-Finder” by the urban folk hero, The New York Times’ article said.
According to a report by rawstory.com, this was not Murray’s first time behind a bar.
