Rockland County has become quite the craft beer bar scene, stepping up its suds game and offering residents a host of “hoppy” options. We asked for the best in the county; you gave us your picks. Now, four finalists are competing in our “DVlicious Best Craft Beer Bar in Rockland County” contest. Each is being profiled this week.
Raise your glass and drink in the following; then click on your favorite. You can vote multiple times, albeit once per day.
Voting ends 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24. The winner will receive a framed DVlicious certificate as well as the pride in knowing it has raised the bar in Rockland.
The Local Tap House of Nyack, Nyack
Number of Craft Beers: Constantly rotating 10 tap lines, 10 bottled beers and a couple dozen canned brews. Check the bar’s Instagram (@thelocalnyack) to see what’s being poured on a particular night.
Why It’s Liquid Gold: The atmosphere is chummy, the hot dogs have funky toppings like pineapples and roasted peppers, and there is a stack of board games should thirsty and puckish patrons feel competitive. In a twist on the old chalkboard beer menu, The Local, as it's called, has a new digital display over the bar. A check of the recent offerings, beer-wise, included: Cigar City Vanilla Brown Ale Nitro (vanilla and cocoa, no tobacco, notes); Defiant Headless Horseman (U.K. grown hops paired with American pumpkin) and Third Rail Halycyon Nights ( dry, earthy, with tangerine citrus notes).
Cheers to Beers: 4 South Franklin St., (845) 353-2363, www.facebook.com/thelocalnyack/.
