With the working title "Vintage Song," this album will feature pop music from the early 20th century as well as traditional American folk songs that predate recorded music.

The Nyack-based singer spent one month planning the campaign before launching the 30-day campaign on June 17 with a goal of $8,500 to cover costs of recording, musicians, printing, CD duplication and video documentation. Over 25 percent of the goal was raised in the first 24 hours. Those who donate have early access to the album before it is released to the public and may select additional perks such as personalized vintage sheet music, song requests, music lessons and private concerts.

The album will be recorded at Dreamland Studios in Woodstock in August with a five-piece jazz band. Potential backers will have the opportunity to support this Kickstarter project through Thursday, July 16, by visiting this link

Hawkey currently performs throughout New York City as bandleader of The Swingaroos Territory Band and as the writer and performer of "As Herself," a Hollywood-themed tribute to the stars of the swing era. She has previously won the American Traditions Vocal Competition, Johnny Mercer Award, Jazz Forum Arts Vocal Competition, NYC Cabaret Showdown and was named one of the Top Ten Best Actresses in a Musical in Rockland, Westchester and Connecticut for her work with Elmwood Playhouse.
