Nyack Hospital offers comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care to women and teenagers. The funding allowed for the Nyack Hospital to completely revamp the waiting room to include new carpeting, a breastfeeding nook, an area where educational videos are shown and pamphlets are displayed to further educate new mothers, many of them where English is a second language.
The overhaul of the patient waiting area was necessary to better serve the community to ensure that women who are expecting receive the education they need to be the best mothers they can be, accordingto a hospital press release. The fact that a majority of the patients at Nyack Hospital are Medicaid recipients emphasizes the importance of this health education.
The center has worked to employ individuals who are multi-lingual to ensure that everyone receives the education needed in the most efficient way possible, the release said. Furthermore, the vital improvements to the Nyack Hospital Prenatal Center will make the staffs' jobs easier and make it a more pleasant and informative experience for everyone, according to the release.
“We greatly appreciate the grant money Senator Carlucci was able to secure for our Prenatal Center and it will help service the community at large,” said Geller. “The services provided through this grant will help the greater community here in Nyack and the surrounding towns and villages."
"My wife and I were able to take advantage of the programs offered through the hospital and now, more future mothers can enjoy those services as well, at no cost to them. This renovated waiting room will make the staffs' jobs easier and make it a more pleasant and informative experience for everyone. More importantly, our women's healthcare will take another leap in the right direction,” said Carlucci.
