Bagel Train In Suffern Makes Finalist List In DVlicious Bagel Contest

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- It’s impossible to live here and not have a bagel opinion. The New York area, as everyone knows, is the bagel capital of the world. And yes, it’s worth waiting in line on a Sunday morning to get one of these doughy wonders fresh out of the oven. Toasting, as a bagel purist knows, is not necessary when you buy the very best.

Bagel Train, 150 Orange Ave., Suffern, (845) 368-4234

What Makes Them Bagelicious: An old family recipe which uses "the best" ingredients. The store is run by Nick Batistatos and his mother, Mamie.

Crazy Flavors: Expect the classics here -- plain and everything are the top sellers -- along with some fun cream cheeses like bacon and red onion. Also popular: strawberry and walnuts and veggie. Nick says bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel is consistently a top-seller.

Reminder: The contest ends Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m.. You can vote multiple times, albeit once per day.
