Fatal Crash: Woman ID'd As Victim After Car Hits Barrier In Hudson Valley

A man sustained serious injuries, and his passenger died after a single-car crash in the region.

It happened in Dutchess County around 7:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, in Pleasant Valley. 

New York State Police said a 55-year-old Poughkeepsie man was driving a 2006 Honda sedan eastbound on Sherow Road when he failed to stop at the intersection with North Avenue. 

The vehicle crossed both lanes of North Avenue, ultimately hitting a barrier on the east shoulder, said police.

Rogers was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with serious injuries.

 His passenger, Dawn Pociask, age 53, of Hyde Park, was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where she was later pronounced dead.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
